Alex has been riding and showing horses since she was just 7 years old. She took a break in her high school years to focus on academics and showing sheep. Throughout high school Alex worked as a camp and after school program counselor, this is where her love of helping and teaching stems from.
After high school, she joined the Redlands Community College Equestrian team and competed on their prestigious IHSA show team. Incidentally this is who Karen and Alex first crossed paths. She bought Batman and began her journey as an instructor and horse trainer.
Her dream to be a well rounded horse woman has taken her down many paths. From being named the 2014 Yukon Rodeo Queen to working with some of the biggest names in the Pinto/Paint, Quarter Horse and Morgan show horse world. Alex has worked with many barns such as Cottonwood Creek Ranch and the Stonecrest Wildes Show team. She is now under the guidance of Karen Singer and Laine Brook Farm.
A graduate from Redlands, Karen has known she would be a horse trainer since she was 12 years old. Growing up she rode all breeds and disciplines of horses, starting out on the American Saddlebred. She got her first job working horses at the age of 16 for a local woman then began training with Kelly Kraegel of Guthrie, Oklahoma in 2009 where she got her first Morgan horse. Her love for the Morgan took her all the way out to the UVM Morgan Horse Farm in Weybridge, Vermont where she learned from Steve Davis for a short period of time. A warmer environment was calling in Escondido, California working for Miller Equestrian Services as the assistant trainer and instructor.
While at the Miller's she learned the fine art of teaching all varieties of students- from beginners, mild handicaps and competitors at the national level.
Karen owns and operates the lesson and training program at Laine Brook Farm established in 2016. Patrick and Karen married in June of 2017 shortly after buying the new farm property.
